Guide for Yakuza 0 - Pocket Circuit (2024)

Pocket Circuit

Pocket Circuit, one of my personal favorite minigames in this series. While the 'gameplay' aspect of this game is pretty minimal, the true excitement comes from the freedom and experimentation that comes from the hundreds of customizable parts you can use to build your perfect Pocket Circuit car. However, if experimentation is not your strong suit, you've come to the right place. Here, I will be giving you the builds you will need to finish this quest chain with minimal issue.

Pocket Circuit becomes available once you return to the city in Chapter 2, after returning to your apartment. It is located on the western edge of Shichif*cku Street, just next to the small park. While you can do everything at this time, it's highly recommended to wait until you are deep into Real Estate Royale in Chapter 5, so you will have the funds required with minimal time and grinding. Parts can mostly be purchased at the store inside of the Pocket Circuit arena, however, you will be required to go to the Ebisu Pawn Shop for the Killer Bee car and the black market guy unlocked from Substory 8 to get the High Torque Motor 2.0 motor part. Some parts can only be obtained from Dream Machines, however, they won't be used in this guide, so do not stress about relying on them to succeed. In order to complete the CP list you are required to purchase most of the Pocket Circuit parts, so be sure to buy every part you can each time you are notified about the store receiving new stock.

Pocket Circuit has two main story lines: the substories and the cup races. While they start separate, you will need to win every cup race in order to unlock the final substory race. The gameplay here is incredibly basic. Guide for Yakuza 0 - Pocket Circuit (1) will be your best friend here, as it speeds up the races. Guide for Yakuza 0 - Pocket Circuit (2) will use your turbo boost, but you will never have to use it with these builds. Avoid it, because you're more likely to fly off the track and lose rather than speed up the race. If you go too fast on the track, your car can start to lose traction and begin to fly off the track. In these situations, time will slow and the camera will zoom in to your car. You will be given the chance to tap Guide for Yakuza 0 - Pocket Circuit (3) to stabilize your car. Use this sparingly, as you only get so much meter to spend recovering. Only use what is necessary to regain control and continue the race. This shouldn't be too big of an issue, but if you keep flying off with these builds, either try again and be more conservative with your mashing or swap cars around for a slightly different build. Like I said, this shouldn't be necessary with these builds, but strange things do happen in Pocket Circuit sometimes.

Since half of the content here has already been covered in the substory page of this walkthrough, I will be reusing that info in the substory section of this guide for ease and cohesion.

NOTE: Bumper plates are only unlocked by purchasing the Killer Bee from Ebisu Pawn for ¥50 million. Purchase this as soon as you can, as it will be required from the rookies' race and Substory 38 and on. High Torque Motor 2.0 can only be purchased from the secret shop from Substory 8 for ¥10 million.
