Where in the Bible does it say you are enough? ›

(Psalm 139:14) As a matter of fact, you have always been enough, every since the beginning. God saw everything that He had made, and behold, it was very good and He validated it completely. (Genesis 1:31) Look down your row and tell them, I am enough and that's that!

"Amplifications" are words or phrases intended to more fully bring out the meaning of the original text but distinguished from the translation itself by a unique system of brackets, parentheses, and italics. The translation is largely one of formal equivalence (word-for-word).

When you feel like you are falling short, God is holding you and supporting you. You are enough for God. There's no need to keep trying to be perfect or to listen to the lies from the enemy telling you that you are not enough. He loves you just as you are, and He is on this journey of life with you.

And our sufficiency, the apostle says, is not of ourselves but of God. This, then, is what I mean by God being enough. It is that we find in Him, in the fact of His existence, and of His character, all that we can possibly want for everything. God is, must be our answer to every question and every cry of need.

The truth is when translating a word it is the context that determines its meaning. The Amplified Bible, when it includes all possible meanings of a word, distorts the meaning by suggesting many meanings that are very unlikely if not erroneous.

The range of those participating included many different denominations such as Anglicans, Catholic, Assemblies of God, Baptist, Christian Reformed, Lutheran and Presbyterian. The NIV is a balance between word-for-word and thought-for-thought or literal and phrase-by-phrase translations.

An amplified translation will provide more accuracy, however, less clarity. A paraphrase translation will provide more clarity, however, less accuracy. The translation continuum spans from a Word for Word translation to a Thought for Thought translation.

First, help me never to tell a lie. Second, give me neither poverty nor riches! Give me just enough to satisfy my needs. For if I grow rich, I may deny you and say, “Who is the LORD?” And if I am too poor, I may steal and thus insult God's holy name.

Psalm 145:14 reminds us that God upholds us when we fall. Like He did with each of the people in the Bible, He uses our mistakes and failures to teach us more about Him, to show His mercy, and to encourage others as they find themselves unable to measure up. No one in the Bible was “enough” by our culture's standards.

Then, in verse 25, God says, “I, I am he who blots out your transgressions for my own sake, and I will not remember your sins.” In emphasizing that He does this “for my sake,” God again points to His gracious covenant.

You are enough means that you don't have to strive to become more worthy, more valid, more acceptable, or more loved. You already are all of those things. There are things you might want to be more of.
