Pork Steak In Air Fryer

Did you know that pork steak is often referred to as pork man’s steak? This is because the likes of pork leg steaks are a lot cheaper than say a beef sirloin steak or a fillet steak.

And whilst a pork steak is considerably cheaper, I never feel like I am missing out when I eat pork steak.

It was the steak of choice Dom & I would have when we had a low income and we just loved pork steak, homemade chips and a delicious creamy sauce to go with it.

Now we have an air fryer, its all about pork steak in the air fryer and how good a job the air fryer does.

Today, we’re going to be showing you how to do pork steak in the air fryer, along with chips too at the same time if you want the full dinner experience as well as our favourite Portuguese pork sandwiches.

Can You Put Raw Pork In An Air Fryer?

Yes, you can put raw pork in the air fryer and you will love air fried pork. My number #1 favourite is air fryer pork tenderloin cooked with apples, its just amazing. I also love air fryer pork and apple burgers with pork mince, not forgetting air fryer pork roast.

Just think any raw pork recipe you would cook in the oven, frying pan, deep fat fryer, grill, barbecue etc can be cooked in the air fryer.

Air Fryer Pork Steak Types

Air Fryer Pork Loin Steaks– I also like to eat air fryer pork loin steaks in the air fryer. Though when I think of them, I always name themair fryer boneless pork chops.But whatever you call them, they are easy and cheap to cook in the air fryer.

Air Fryer Pork Shoulder Steak– I like pork shoulder steak as an in between cut of pork steak for the air fryer. Not as good as pork loin, but better than a regular pork chop. Or for a cheaper version of pork shoulder steak try air fryer pork shoulder blade steak.

Air Fryer Pork Chop Steaks– Also known asair fryer pork chops, they are easy to cook in the air fryer. I find that my Butchers always has a deal on pork chops, and they are perfect for work night dinners in the air fryer.

Air Fryer Pork Leg Steaks – The cheapest option and still delivers on flavour and cooks amazingly in the air fryer. It is pork leg steak that we are air frying today.

Marinated Pork Steaks In Air Fryer

One problem I always have when cooking is that I forget to marinate. But when you do marinate your pork steaks it can make a huge difference to the flavour and make the pork steaks even more tender.

If you do want to marinade and don’t know where to start add your pork steaks to a freezer bag with some apple juice and dried thyme for an hour before cooking. Then cook as usual.

Steaks – We made this pork steak air fryer recipe as part of a saving money challenge and went with the butchers cheapest aka pork leg steaks. You can do the same or swap for another favourite.

Seasoning – Then keeping is simple you just need some salt, pepper, and garlic powder.

And that is all you need to air fry pork steaks. Though you can mix and match, and add other seasonings and make it your own.

How To Cook Pork Steak In Air Fryer?

  • Prep. Place the pork steaks in the air fryer basket and season with salt, pepper and garlic powder.
  • Cook. Then air fry pork steaks for 6 minutes at 180c/360f, turn with tongs and then do the same again on the other side.

Air Fryer Pork Steak Bifanas

The Portuguese tradition is Bifanas. Whenever I was at a café in Portugal or at a barbecue, they would be top of the menu

Bifanas are pork steaks (usually a cheaper cut of pork) and served in warm bread rolls with some butter.

If you would like to recreate this, then follow our air fryer part baked bread recipe and then load them up with just cooked pork steaks.

Air Fryer Pork Steak & Chips

Of course, I don’t just want an air fried pork steak, I want steak and chips.

You will be pleased to know its easy to create steak and chips at the same time in the air fryer.

Simply prepare your chips first and follow our air fryer chips recipe, then cook the chips for 12 minutes at 180c/360f.

After the 12 minutes are up, chop an apple into cubes and shake the air fryer chips so that the apple is now part of the chips. This will then add extra flavour to the chips.

Next add the pork steaks over, seasoning them like we have done for cooking pork steak on its own in the air fryer.

Then cook the pork steak for the same time and temp as on its own. Then when you flip the pork steaks over at 6 minutes give the chips a shake too.

You will then have delicious pork steak and chips in 24 minutes. Plus the juices from the pork go onto the chips making them taste even better.

How Long To Cook Pork Steak In Air Fryer?

The perfect air fryer pork steak time and temp is 6 minutes on each side at 180c/360f. The same rule has applied when cooking pork steak and potatoes and for just cooking pork steak on its own.

  • Place the pork steaks side by side in the air fryer basket. Then season with salt and pepper and a pinch of garlic powder on each steak.

  • Air fry the pork steaks for 6 minutes at 180c/360f.

  • Turn the pork steaks with tongs and then repeat with another 6 minutes at 180c/360f on the other side.

Swaps. We used pork leg steaks to save money. But you can swap these for another pork steak cut and it will carry a similar cook time. Though if your pork steak is much thicker than ours, do add an extra minute on each side.
