MTV EMAs 2022: Damon Albarn and daughter Missy walk the red carpet (2024)

Damon Albarn made a rare red carpet appearance with his daughter Missy as they arrived with theGorillazat the MTV EMAs atDüsseldorf’s PSD Bank Dome in Germanyon Sunday.

Musician Damon, 54, cut a casual figure as he wore a black jacket with a pair of matching jeans and a navy blue top.

He stood alongside Missy, 23, who he shares with his partnerSuzi Winstanley, as Missy wore a semi-sheer black dress with a lace design which was adored with red cherries.

She wore a quilted black coat over the top of her dress as she stood next to her famous father.

The pair were seen withGorillaz band members Thundercat, Jamie Hewlett and Bootie Brown as well asKelvin Mercer aka Posdnous of De La Soul.

Later in the evening, the band took to the stage at the glitzy bash as they performed with American rapperPosdnous of De La Soul.

Rita Ora makes her return as MTV EMAs host this year alongside her husband Taika Waititi, five years after she made her hosting debut in 2017.

Rita, who has herself been nominated on several occasions and won thePower of Music Award, will take to the stage at the beginning of the show to perform R.I.P.

It will mark the third time she has taken to the stage to perform at the coveted event, as she joins the likes of Bebe Rexha,Gorillaz and David Guetta and in singing at this year's ceremony.

Also acts joining a night of incredible performances includeAva Max and Muse, as well as Scottish sensationLewis Capaldi, who will make his EMAs debut.

The performances don't end there, asStormzy, GAYLE, OneRepublic, Kalush Orchestra, SPINALL, Äyanna and Nasty C will also appear.

The entertainment will come at intervals as the stars of the music world receive awards throughout the glitzy event.

Fans have been voting for their favourite artists across 19 gender-neutral categories.

Harry Styles leads the nominees with seven nods, which includeBest Artist, Best Song and Best Video from his smash hit album, Harry's House.

Following him is fellow pop iconTaylor Swift, who also stands out from the crowd with six nominations this year.

Taylor earned a nod for Best Longform Video, a brand new MTV EMA 2022 category.

The two chart toppersalso scored nominations for Best Local Act in their respective home regions: the UK and Ireland, and the US.

Next, Nicki Minaj and ROSALÍA have respectively earned five nominations, and both are competing for Best Song and Best Artist.

First time nominees hoping to bag a win includingChencho Corleone, GAYLE, Stephen Sanchez, Dove Cameron, Doechii, Baby Keem, Kim Petras, Mae Muller, Saucy Santana, Shenseea, Summer Walker and Wet Leg.

The ceremony will broadcast live on MTV in more than 170 countries on 13 November and will be available on Paramount+ and Pluto TV globally beginning 14 November. This year marks the sixth time Germany has hosted the event.
